Books on my bedside table

There’s nothing better than curling up in bed at night with a good book. Here are my picks.

Still Waters (Sandhamn Murders Book 1) Viveca Sten. A great find! Viveca Sten is a Swedish author who has sold more than 3 million copies of her popular Sandham Murder series. I’ll definitely be downloading more of the series. Interesting to note the series was adapted for television. Sandhamn Island off the coast of Sweden is an idyllic holiday destination until a corpse is washed up onto the beach. Propelled by suspense and great characters the story reveals the beauty and danger of Island life. Highly recommended.

The Crossing (B Michael Radburn) Gripping read. Radburn’s debut novel is a great suspense mystery set in Tasmania, Australia. It’s a story of redemption told by a master storyteller. It will have you turning the pages well into the night. 

Silent Predator (Tony Park) A great read and a real page turner. Crime with a difference. Detective Sergeant and Protection Officer, Tom Furey can’t believe what happened on his watch. He had his eye on a pretty girl rather than on his job which results in dire consequences. 

Hades (Candice Fox) I was totally enthralled by this thriller. Candice Fox’s background of growing up in a family fascinated by crime lends itself to a great read. Good vs evil, serial killers with a twist. 

Killing the Shadows (Val McDermid) A serial killer is on the loose and his prey – the writers of crime novels. Crime at its best. Well plotted, a great psychological thriller.

The Various Haunts of Men (Susan Hill) Just finished Susan Hill’s first crime novel, the first book in the  Simon Serrailler series. The setting is evocative and Hill produces believable characters who jump off the page at you.

Midwinter Sacrifice (Mons Kallentoft) Inspector Malin Fors is a feisty single mother who is obsessed with her job. The story is set in Linkoping, Sweden where Kallentoft was born. Great suspense, gripping and I love the way the author draws us into the story through the backdrop of a cruel and punishing winter.
